How to Perform

  1. Stand tall with a dumbbell in each hand and the palms facing in.
  2. Keep the elbows close to the ribs and brace the trunk.
  3. Curl one or both dumbbells up without rotating the wrists.
  4. Stop when the forearm is just past vertical.
  5. Squeeze briefly at the top.
  6. Lower under control to full extension.

Coaching Cues

  • Keep the palms facing each other throughout.
  • Keep the elbows still.
  • Control the lowering phase.

Common Mistakes

  • Swinging the dumbbells up.
  • Letting the elbows travel forward.
  • Rotating the wrists into a supinated curl.
