How to Perform

  1. Stand on one foot with the ball of the foot on a step and the heel free.
  2. Hold a rail lightly for balance only.
  3. Let the heel drop below the step into a stretch.
  4. Press up onto the toes as high as you can.
  5. Hold the top position for a second.
  6. Lower under control and repeat, then change legs.

Coaching Cues

  • Use the rail for balance, not for lifting.
  • Push through the big toe, not the outside of the foot.
  • Take the same range on both sides.

Common Mistakes

  • Rushing the reps and losing the top squeeze.
  • Ignoring the weaker side.
