Overview

Purpose. Train a fast, accurate pull under the bar into the overhead position.

How to Perform

  1. Stand tall on the balls of the feet with a snatch grip, bar at the hips.
  2. Pull the elbows high and drop under the bar without dipping.
  3. Punch to a locked overhead position and receive in a partial or full squat.
  4. Stand and reset.

Coaching Cues

  • "Drop, do not press."
  • "Elbows high and outside."
  • "Lock early."

Common Mistakes

  • Adding a leg drive.
  • Pressing the bar out.
