Overview

Purpose. Combine maximal vertical pulling with a crushing grip in a single exercise.

How to Perform

  1. Drape two towels over a pull-up bar about shoulder-width apart.
  2. Grip one towel in each hand as low as strength allows.
  3. Pull until the hands reach chest height.
  4. Lower under control to full extension.

Coaching Cues

  • "Crush the towel."
  • "Elbows drive to the ribs."
  • "Shoulders down before you pull."

Common Mistakes

  • Gripping too high and losing the range.
  • Kipping to compensate for grip fatigue.

Add load, use a single towel, or extend the hold at the top.

Towel dead hang, or a towel-grip inverted row.
