Progressions
Increase distance first, then pace, then load — change only one variable at a time.
Regressions
Unloaded walking, a lighter pack, or a shorter distance on flat ground.

When to Use It

When to use
On low-intensity days, or as a standalone session separated from heavy lower-body work.
When not to use
Alongside heavy eccentric leg training, or with unresolved foot, shin or lower-back pain.
Programming
One session per week: 5 to 10 kilometres at 15 to 25 percent of bodyweight, progressing load by no more than ten percent per week.
