How to Perform

  1. Throw the jab, stepping the lead foot slightly to the outside to create the kicking angle.
  2. Throw the cross with full hip rotation, allowing the rear foot to pivot.
  3. Continue the rotation into a low kick to the outside of the opponent’s lead thigh.
  4. Recover to stance and reset distance, expecting a counter.

Coaching Cues

  • “Punch high so the kick goes unseen.”
  • “Angle out on the jab.”
  • “Hands stay up when the kick lands.”

Common Mistakes

  • Dropping the hands as the kick is thrown, which is when the counter arrives.
  • Kicking without angling out, which makes the kick easy to check.

Progressions & Regressions
