How to Perform

  1. Set a timer for three minutes and start in a Muay Thai stance with the hands up.
  2. Move around an imagined opponent, throwing single strikes with full technique and recovery.
  3. Add defensive actions between strikes: Checks, long guard, slips and level changes.
  4. Finish the round with two or three complete combinations at full speed.

Coaching Cues

  • “Fight someone, do not just wave your arms.”
  • “Recover to stance after every strike.”
  • “Full rotation on every kick, even without a target.”

Common Mistakes

  • Drifting into aimless movement without a target or an intention.
  • Throwing at partial range and partial rotation, which grooves a shortened technique.

Progressions & Regressions

Progressions
Add round length, then add a mirror, then add a partner shadowing at range.
Regressions
Work single techniques repeatedly rather than free-flowing rounds.

Technical rounds, pad rounds and bag rounds in a Muay Thai session.
When not to use
Shin, hip or groin injury, or unresolved lower-limb pain.
Programming
3–6 rounds of 3 minutes with 60 seconds rest. Can be done daily.
