How to Perform

  1. Throw the teep to the body to interrupt the opponent and create space.
  2. As they close the distance again, meet them with the cross.
  3. Follow the cross forward into the close range and deliver the horizontal elbow.
  4. Clinch or exit rather than remaining at elbow range.

Coaching Cues

  • “Push them, meet them, then get inside.”
  • “The elbow only works if you walk into it.”
  • “Do not stand at elbow range afterwards.”

Common Mistakes

  • Throwing the elbow from punching range where it cannot land.
  • Failing to move forward after the cross, so the elbow never arrives.

Progressions & Regressions

Progressions
Add a knee after the elbow, then a clinch entry, then partner work with protective gear.
Regressions
Practise the teep-cross pair first, then add the elbow separately.

When to use
Pad rounds, bag rounds and shadow rounds once the individual strikes are competent.
When not to use
Before the component strikes can be thrown correctly in isolation.
Programming
3–6 rounds of 2–3 minutes, 8–15 repetitions of the combination per round.
