How to Perform

  1. Fit the headband so the ball hangs at roughly nose height when still.
  2. Start with light single jabs, tracking the ball with the eyes as it returns.
  3. Add straight combinations, keeping the punches short and accurate.
  4. Move the feet between combinations rather than standing still.

Coaching Cues

  • “Watch it all the way back.”
  • “Short punches; the ball will not reward a swing.”
  • “Keep the other hand up.”

Common Mistakes

  • Punching wildly at a ball that is nowhere near the fist, which trains inaccuracy.
  • Treating it as a substitute for bag or partner work rather than a supplement.

Progressions & Regressions

Progressions
Increase tempo, then add head movement, then shorten the cord.
Regressions
Lengthen the cord and work single punches slowly.

Hand, wrist or shoulder injury, or any suspected concussion.

3–5 rounds of 2–3 minutes, 60 seconds rest between rounds.
