How to Perform

  1. Stand in a split stance with the lead foot inside the first square and the trail foot behind the ladder.
  2. Switch the feet quickly so the trail foot lands in the square and the lead foot moves behind.
  3. Each switch advances you one square along the ladder.
  4. Keep the switch fast and the torso level throughout.

Coaching Cues

  • “Switch, do not jump.”
  • “Keep the hips low and level.”
  • “Feet skim the ground.”

Common Mistakes

  • Bouncing vertically instead of switching horizontally.
  • Letting the torso rock forwards and backwards with each switch.

Progressions & Regressions

Progressions
Increase switch frequency, then add a punch or a strike with each switch.
Regressions
Perform stationary switches outside the ladder first.

When to Use It

When to use
Warm-ups, foot-speed and coordination blocks, and low-load days between heavy sessions.
When not to use

Programming
4–6 passes per pattern, 2–4 patterns per session, full recovery between passes.
